After leaving the rock band Dirty Honey and starting Good Day Latte, the founder decided to reach out to Wincent Drumsticks for a special collaboration. Wincent Drumsticks, known for their high-quality drumsticks, were excited to partner up for a giveaway. They have been establishing themselves as a major brand in the drumstick world with players like Ben Sesar of Brad Paisely and Thomas Haake of Meshuggah.
What was included in the giveaway?
The giveaway included a few pairs of Wincent Drumsticks' 5B white drumsticks, some 5A's, a few pages of drum exercises developed by the founder over the years, a 1 hour private drum lesson with Corey, and of course, a bag of Good Day Latte. The founder personally loves the 5B white drumsticks for their grippy-ness, look and feel.
What is Good Day Latte?
Good Day Latte is a functional beverage brand founded by Corey Coverstone. Their first product is focused around turmeric, known for its anti-inflammatory properties, brain and heart health promoting properties, and also depression relieving properties. Good Day Latte also contains other functional ingredients like cordyceps mushroom and Lion's mane mushroom, making it a caffeine-free mind/body boosting drink.
"I wanted to make sure I sourced only the highest quality, organic, and most importantly, highest bioavailable ingredients possible." Says Corey.
"When it comes to turmeric, most people know to combine it with black pepper to increase absorption. Consuming turmeric with fats is also helpful, though. So if you use a milk that has fats in it, a turmeric latte is actually quite functional."
"When it comes to cordyceps and lion's mane mushrooms, however, it seems like less people know what forms to consume to get the most benefit from them. I definitely didn't know until I started digging a little deeper. The studies I came across seem to show that the fruiting body is the most beneficial part of the mushroom. So, not the mycelium, or the substrate it grows on. Beyond that though, the cell walls of the mushrooms are hard for our bodies to digest, so there needs to be another step involved so we can properly absorb them. This is where hot water extractions come in. For cordyceps and lion's mane, hot water extraction is what you want. It softens the cell walls of the mushroom so our bodies can digest and absorb them, without removing any of the beneficial compounds."
